/ You / We was a digital exhibition of artworks by Lindsey Ellen Fromm, Isaac AlaridPease, Gus Tafoya, and Sara Daniele Rivera, produced in response to COVID-19 shelter in place orders. These artworks are displayed in digital rotation on Clear Channel billboards located at the intersections of Lomas and Edith, Lomas and San Mateo, and Lead and Broadway. Signs are were live during the the month of May, 2020.
This project began as FOS’s annual collaboration with local high schools. Teaching artists spent a week with students from MACCS (Media Arts Collaborative Charter School), considering the theme of shelter. Students took photographs based on this theme with the goal of developing them into finished artworks. When schools closed in response to COVID-19, FOS was unable to continue its collaboration with students.
In order to honor the students and their work, FOS artists Fromm and Rivera, MACCS educator AlaridPease, and MACCS alum Tafoya responded to and adapted the photographs into new artworks, considering how the theme of shelter has shifted under shelter in place. FOS director Ellen Babcock curated the four final images, which aim to bring comfort and connection to the Albuquerque community.
This project is supported by New Mexico Arts, a state-wide regranting organization of the National Endowment for the Arts
